It's Alive: A Celebration of
Mary Shelley & Re-Animation

An evening with The Bone Room

With a discussion led by

The Practicalities of
Reanimating Tissue

Saturday Aug 29th, 2015
North Berkeley Public Library
The Bone Room will brought you tea and birthday cake in celebration of Mary Shelley's birthday. With the Berkeley Public Library, we dissected her book Frankenstein -- debating the flaws, fears and possibilities of reanimating dead tissue.

The Body Appropriate lead a discussion on the historical and contemporary practicalities of reanimating organs and limbs. From organ donations and transplant surgery, the history of experimentation in the struggle to reanimate tissues, to modern day advances in medicine, we explored how your body knows how to engage with newly transplanted tissues or why it might reject it. The discussion was illustrated with short found footage and relevant imagery.
