Gender Matters was a group exhibition created by the International Museum Studies masters students across three museums in Göteborg, Sweden.
I personally worked on the content team, lead program workshops and visitor studies research.
The exhibition hacked into current exhibits in the museums and examined how and where gender matters in society and in museum representation. Through the exhibition at the City Museum we explored 19th century gender roles in relation to those of today. At the Maritime Museum we looked at how gender roles on land are contested at sea. In the Natural History Museum we discussed how the animal world challenges human ideas of gender roles.
